Now, if you want to allow your friends and family to use your Jellyfin server I would recommend to publish it to the outside internet. Yes, you can also provide every user with a VPN connection to your home but that's another app they need to install and especially difficult if they want to install Jellyfin on their TV as well. 

Hence, you can simply point your DNS name to your public IP address and let your reverse proxy  Caddy take care of the certificates.
